I dropped my bike earlier :( and cracked my tail fairing by my seat. If anyone has a tail unit surplus to requirements, or knows where I might be able to get one, I'd be interested.

Thanks

Matt

I just bough a replacement from America ,how badly cracked is your unit ?
I have become an OK plastic welder in my spare time :)
my one cost me 30 quid.http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/18/dsc01408h.jpg/
wasn't a1 but the whole bike is being sprayed anyway. 8-)

I'll have a look on the American eBay later, there is one on the uk eBay but it's got some cracks in it. Mine is cracked quite badly :( going to take it off at work tomorrow and try and glue it back together as a temporary fix until I can replace it.

Ok, so a soldering iron. Will I need filler afterwards? Where can I get the correct paint from?

Am I being stupid? How do I actually go about doing this?

for paint look up the honda colour codes.
I heat the soldering iron and dab the 2 ends of the crack first to give it strength, then work my way along the crack folding the hot plastic over the crack, do this on both sides and you should get a good strong joint,if you want to you can melt cable ties in to give more plastic. When your done you will need to use a filler and sand to get a nice smooth surface.
If your fairly used to using a soldering iron its not that hard.

"R-258 Winning red" is honda red for the sp1

so sorry the pictures took so long mate.
please understand that these pictures are of the rear tail when they were on the bike. now all his fairings are in the oem honda boxes in storage. im not the one calling the prices here but when i told him i might be able to sell it on a forum, he said its 500 aus dollars no negotiating. and 50 bucks to post it anywhere worldwide. i think its because the oem fairings hes got are in spanking good condition is why he wants that much.
i think hes an ass***e which is why iv never bought off him . but i suppose im just doing my bit here.. informing you guys.
he'l take paypal too. sorry i forgot to mention it.
