Inner faring

Postby spiv » Tue Sep 20, 2011 6:34 pm

OK ... tried to take the faring off t/day. The 2 bolts on the inner faring are just rotating & not undoing . Probably rusted . Tried penetrating stuff but no go. Any sugestions?

Those are rubber well nuts similar to ones used on the windscreen.
The bolt is probably corroded onto the brass insert of the well nut.
It may be possible to fit an extra pair of hands in there with a pair of pliers to hold the well nut and loosen the bolt.

agree with that, plus you can remove the whole bottom fairing and v cowel as one to get to the well nuts easier.

What they said :text-yeahthat:

I had the same problem, but with only the one fastener... So I was lucky I already had one side off and could get pliers on the back of the seized one quite easily...

I need to buy some new ones, as I just re-applied the 'damaged' one, now I know how to get it off easily...

Thanks,

Jon.

Thanks all  .I will try the pliers first and if that fails ,I'll just take the faring off in one piece.
