UK law and licence plate lights

Hi all

Do you need a licence plate light to pass a MOT?

I've got a original light to replace the led lights, but there is no built in licence plate light. Is this the norm or do I have a US spec light?

Can someone send me a pic of a UK set up so I can try and match as near as possible

Not required for an MOT......

However, due to the vagueries of the law you may well be stopped if the number plate is not illuminated at night......go figure
