Just about ready to finish my SP1 and had it running on the stand today, I popped it into gear and slowly released the clutch I noticed the chain hopping about. I took it out of gear and inspected it. I found there is a really tight spot in the chain. The wheel is aligned (used a laser) and I can't see where the oval could be occurring! I slackened the rear sprocket bolts off and span it then retightened but it had no affect. Has anyone got any ideas or is it normal??
Physically check the chain, just watching on tick over isnt going to show you anything. Best check each link yourself. mine hops around if running on its paddock stand in gear, but is tight spot free.
I've ordered a new chain. The "new" one was a freebie off a mate who raced (and won) the British super stocks! He said "it's new, it's only done 3-4 meetings" I'll take that as its stretched LOL
does the tight spot occur at the same place each time on the chain? if it does the chain is at fault, i have had new chains with tight spots. Standard sprockets are 16/40 so if it goes tight every 16 links then its the front and 40 links its the back but i very much doubt its sprocket/shaft rellated.
No the chain doesn't seem to affect it especially as the tight spots are identical with the Tsubaki and DID chains ive tried. I'm positive it's the rear renthal sprocket! Friday afternoon job...
I've never had that with new sprockets before Are you sure it's not another one of your mates (raced) nearly new bits Any sign of hooking teath of slightly leaning
