Well finally found enough time to get the frame off the knackered engine :thumbup: and now preparing to get it powder coated, filling all threaded holes with bolts and washers and goint to make some blanks for the steering race seats. propper prep at this point saves hours of scraping powder coat off faces and out of threads remembering my old wheels :( . Going for anthracite colour so it wont show around the carbon frame covers. will do the lower yoke silver. Will have to remove the vin plate on the frame and re fix after (is this legal?).
its going to be a slow re build but will be worth it.

I think you would just get in trouble if you remove it, and then put it back on something else :whistle:

thanks :thumbup: well ive just used the plastic welder at work to fix and strengthen the undertray, it will need filling and sanding then loads a paint. this time im going to put that clear plastic film over it as even with a hugger it takes quite a hammering from stones etc.
ordered some tapered head bearings as the yokes are off. loads to do yet before it starts going back together :?

Will you be refitting the same engine once it's fixed or will you put the new one you bought in as a replacement? I seam to recall you talking about a standard engine for more every day use would be nice.

standard engine and airbox Pete :thumbup: and im keeping the carbon screen Lyndon just cus it annoys you :D

taking ages to mask off the frame for bead blasting then powder coating, need loads of sizes of washers to protect faces, and made some big blanks at work to protect the head set area. ordered some tapered rollers for the head set, and cleaned up the mounting bolts etc.

did some plastic welding and etrenthening on the hotbodies underseat unit, removed the SP2 trough for the ECU and filled the hole with ABS sheet. il post pics when its done cus it looks shite now until its sanded and filled! ;)

Not being funny Steve, but why are you powder coating the frame? Is it that bad and even though its powder coat you run the risk of it scratching /chipping.

Fair comment but the finish around the rougher area near the footpegs is going and its an arse to keep clean, ive found when i powder coated the wheels, brake callipers and other brackets they just wiped off so much easier! Also with the carbon frame protectors the silver frame shows around some edges so a matt black or anthracite will look better IMO. The standard silver bike is way toooooooo silver and needs breaking up/ toning down. Plus my mate is a powder coater :D
