Flapper valve mod

Postby Asherz86 » Sun Feb 20, 2011 10:18 pm

This should only be done to race machines and if it is undertaken hondavtrsp.com forum will not be held responsible for any malfunctions to the bike the valve mod is taken out on.

Seriously, is this worth doing? Have you just done the tube removal and plug or have you done the full shabam? Did you notice any difference in either method?

Cheers

It takes a good chunk of weight and mess off the bike, but I can't say there's a big power gain to be had

Seriously guys, you need to do this mod! Bloody hell fire she sounds brutal now! I wouldn't say it's any faster at all but by hell the power delivery and breathing is so much better.

Kudos rating for this mod: As its free, reduces weight and makes the bike sound better than a roaring lion on Chrystal Meth 10/10!!!

I did it in a matter of minutes, follow the instructions for removal of diaphragm, solenoid and air tank as they are pretty spot on however the only thing I did differently was instead of buying the diaphragm cover cap I just replaced the existing diaphragm back in (obviously minus the flapper and hose). Again, I found a noticeable difference to the breathing of the bike resulting in a better power delivery right through the range but more noticeably at the lower end. Also a crisper, more intense roar from the bike which to be honest, gave me an erection!

Its so easy mate, I think it was only a 8mm, 10mm, 12mm spanner/socket and a couple of cable ties plus 1 6mm bolt to block the throttle body air line, and a flat blade screwdriver to help push the hoses of the connections.

You have to undo the two RHS radiator bolts so you can create a bit of space to get in at the solenoid. The bracket that holds the air tank is one bolt to remove the tank but I took the whole bracket off to remove even more weight (a whole 20g lol!), The two bolts for that hold the starter motor in place so make sure you do them back up :D
