Hi Guys,

Pulled up at some lights last night and noticed that as my foot was over rear brake and I rock the bike back and forth there is some movement, which doesn't seem right? I did a google search and there is some talk of it on the a fireblades forum (with regard to same issue on blades) and was passed as "normal"

I've only had the bike about 4 weeks and have covered 1000miles or so in that time and not noticed it before - anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? I don't wanna ride it hard till I have peace of mind! My stab-in-the-dark guess was worn swingarm or shock mount bushes, but if tanyone has a clue I;d be very grateful. There is another SP local to me so I'll be calling in tomorrow to cross reference...!

Either your rear bearings are on the way out and allowing the wheel to move or your axel is not tight enoug and the callaper bracket is moving in the swingarm just some of my toughts.
But best to get it checked out as there should be no movement at all.

I paid £37 to get to work on the train today, almost fell over when I saw the cost but sounds like it was the right choice

ps - I grabbed the caliper and mount and it feels tight, no movement and seems bolted tight to the swingarm.
I recently adjusted the chain (1 week ago) but I torqued up the axle bolt to 105nm. Will double check it tonight.

The movement is a good inch or so, as far as I can tell the whole swinger is moving. scary

OK, embarrassing and concerning conclusion:

Rear disc bolts - not even finger tight

So bike was moving back and forth with brake on as the disc was moving about - and as it did so the rear was moving up and down a bit as the pivot point had become the brake pads.

Scary stuff! Should have checked these first.

Looks like that was £37 well spent

Good call on leaving it at home if it didn't feel right, It would have been a shame to destroy that lovely bike
I see the bike is new to you (like my one), so I am sure you will be giving the other critical nuts and bolts a quick check over

lucky there mate! any new bike ive had always spent a couple of hours giving it a good going over! worth the time as there are plenty of muppets out there that shouldnt be let loose with tools!!

Oh dear, that could have been disastrous!

Do yourself a flavour and spend an hour going over your bike this evening and give it a good sense check.

sounds like the bearings and sleaves in the rear linkage.
dead easy get someone to tilt the bike over using the sidestand as a lever so the rear wheel is off the ground grab the wheel and lift alittle movment is ok prob upto 4mm anymore and you need new bearings or a dan kyle link kit.
easy to fit aswell only an hour or so.

good thought Rick but that was a year ago last April.
I'm pretty sure it's sorted now
